Overview
Once the Stripe deposit has been requested (automatically or manually) to the guest, you can find it on the relevant reservation page, in the finance and payment links section.
You can find all Stripe security deposit requests on the payment links page.
From the main menu, go to Finance > Payments > Payment links
You can refine your search by applying the filters at the top of the page.
Release security deposit
Security deposit are released automatically according to the settings of each office.
However, it is possible to release a security deposit manually before the automatic release date.
From the main menu, go to Finance > Payments > Payment links
Search for the relevant reservation, in the last Action column, click on ... > Release/Capture
N.B. : If the option does not appear, this means that:
- the deposit has already been released. Please note that you can only release a deposit if its status is authorized
- the reservation has been cancelled. You will have to wait the end of the reservation to release the deposit
Fill in the form:
- Choose whether you wish to refund a fixed amount or a percentage
- Add the amount to reimburse to guest, i.e. the amount you wish to realease to the guest. If you are releasing the entire deposit, enter the total amount of the deposit
- Add the amount to distribute funds, i.e. the amount you wish to take out from the deposit. If you are releasing the entire deposit, enter 0
Once the form completed, click on confirm to release the deposit.
The pre-authorized/debited amount to the guest's bank account following deposit payment will be released/refunded within 10 days.
Capture the deposit
The deposit is never debited from the guest's credit card unless:
- the reservation is lasting 20 days or more
- you have created the deposit request without activating the pre-authorization option
It is possible to capture a deposit manually before the automatic release date.
From the main menu, go to Finance > Payments > Payment links
Search for the relevant reservation, in the last Action column, click on ... > Release/Capture
N.B. : If the option does not appear, the deposit has already been released. Please note that you can only capture a deposit if its status is authorized.
Step 1. Capture the deposit
Fill in the form:
- Choose whether you want to collect a fixed amount or a percentage
- Add the amount to capture, i.e. the amount you wish to take out from the deposit. If you are capturing the entire deposit, you must enter the total amount of the deposit. If you're capturing a part of the deposit, add the desired amount
- Add the amount to release, i.e. the amount you wish to refund to the guest. If you are releasing the entire deposit, enter 0
Once the form completed, click on confirm to capture the deposit.
Step 2. Create a payment resolution
If you have your own Stripe account connected to RentalReady, you can skip this step. You've finished capturing the deposit. You'll have to manage the payout from your own Stripe account.
If you subscribed to RentalReady payment system, process to step 1. again.
Once the deposit has been captured again, the amount will be automatically converted into a payment resolution.
You can then go to the payment resolutions page to close it and transfer the money to whom you want.
N.B. : This step is irreversible. Once the payment resolution has been created, you can no longer release the deposit from RentalReady.
Cancel a security deposit
You have the option to cancel a security deposit directly from the reservation page > Cancel security deposit request
N.B: The security deposit request link is automatically generated 7 or 14 days before the arrival date, depending on the configuration set at the office level.
Please note that the security deposit can only be cancelled once the link has been generated. No cancellation action can be performed prior to that timeframe.
